Morolake Omoya joined the 2019 cohort of the Minority SURGE Capacity in Disasters Scholars

Morolake Omoya (PhD Student, Burton Research Group) joined the 2019 cohort of the Minority SURGE Capacity in Disasters Scholars. Comprised of graduate students from under-represented groups in engineering and the social sciences, the SURGE scholars will focus two grand challenges: the low representation of racial and ethnic minorities in STEM-related hazards and disaster research and the disproportionate impacts of disasters on under-served communities.
