University of California Office of the President for the UC-HBCU initiative

Henry Burton was recently awarded a grant through the University of California Office of the President for the UC-HBCU initiative, which seeks to establish sustained research partnerships between UC campuses and Historically Black Colleges and Universities. This grant will support undergraduate students from Morgan State University over the course of three years, who will be employed as summer researchers in Professor Burton’s group. During the academic year, these students will continue their research activity with Dr. Monique Head, an Associate Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Morgan State. Henry is an alumnus of Morgan State University (B.S. Civil and Environmental Engineering, 2002).
